Home Updates ICA: Continuous heavy traffic expected at land checkpoints for December holidays
ADVISORY 15 December 2025

The Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) has issued an advisory that very heavy traffic is expected at both Woodlands and Tuas checkpoints for the entire month of December 2025.

Peak Periods:

  • Year-end school holidays
  • Christmas and New Year festive periods
  • Weekend travel (especially Dec 20-22, Dec 27-29)

What Travelers Should Do:

  • Check live traffic cameras before departing
  • Allow extra time for immigration clearance
  • Consider traveling during off-peak hours (late night or early morning)
  • Ensure all travel documents are ready for inspection
  • Use QR code clearance for faster processing (see below)

QR Code Clearance: Since January 2025, ICA has fully implemented QR code clearance at Woodlands and Tuas checkpoints, allowing travellers to clear immigration without presenting physical passports. This has increased clearance capacity by approximately 10% (2,000 more travelers per hour).
