Required Documents
Have these ready before you reach the checkpoint to avoid delays.
For All Travelers
- Valid passport with at least 6 months validity
- Singapore entry/exit stamps (if applicable)
- Visa (if required for your nationality)
- Vaccination certificate (check current requirements)
For Drivers
- Vehicle Entry Permit (VEP) - mandatory for SG cars
- Road tax (valid)
- Driving license
- Vehicle insurance covering Malaysia
- Touch 'n Go card or cash for tolls
Step-by-Step Crossing Process
Follow these steps for a smooth border crossing experience.
- Before Leaving: Check live traffic cameras on our homepage to choose the best route and time.
- Approaching Checkpoint: Follow signs for "Causeway" (Woodlands) or "Second Link" (Tuas). Have documents ready.
- Singapore Exit: Present passport at Singapore Immigration. Vehicle inspection may be conducted. Get exit stamp.
- Cross Bridge: Drive across Johor-Singapore Causeway (1 km) or Second Link (1.9 km). Stay in lane, obey speed limits.
- Malaysia Entry: Join queue at Sultan Iskandar CIQ (Woodlands) or Tanjung Kupang CIQ (Tuas).
- Malaysia Immigration: Present passport and VEP documents. Get entry stamp. Customs may inspect vehicle.
- VEP Payment: If required, pay VEP fee at counter or online before crossing.
- Exit Checkpoint: Follow signs for your destination in Johor Bahru.
Vehicle Entry Permit (VEP)
Mandatory for all Singapore-registered vehicles entering Malaysia.
How to Register
Register online at vep.jpj.gov.my or OneMotoring portal. Install RFID tag on windscreen.
Fees
RM20 per entry (valid 7 days) or RM300 annually. Payment via Touch
'n Go eWallet or credit/debit card.
Important
Driving without valid VEP may result in fines up to RM2,000.

Timing
Cross during off-peak hours (10 AM - 4 PM weekdays). Avoid Friday

Route Choice
Tuas is generally less crowded than Woodlands. Check live cameras on
both routes before deciding which to take.
Parking
Park at Woodlands MRT and walk across if just visiting JB Sentral
area. Faster than driving during peak hours.
Currency
Bring Malaysian Ringgit (MYR) for tolls and immediate expenses.
Money changers available at both checkpoints.
Mobile Data
Enable roaming or get Malaysian SIM card. Stay connected for

Fuel
Ensure 3/4 tank minimum when leaving Singapore (legal requirement).
