The Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) has announced that Phase 1 construction works for the Woodlands Checkpoint redevelopment project have commenced in the third quarter of 2025.

Project Details:

  • Phase: Phase 1 of multi-phase redevelopment
  • Commencement: Q3 2025
  • Purpose: Add new automated clearance facilities to manage growing traffic volumes

Background: Woodlands Checkpoint handles over 300,000 travelers daily, making it one of the busiest land border crossings in the world. The redevelopment aims to:

  • Increase clearance capacity
  • Modernize facilities
  • Improve traveler experience
  • Reduce congestion during peak hours
